The Governors Club Custom Home Program (CHP) was established in March, 1992 to provide property owners, many of whom come from out of town, with a team of experienced professionals to select from when designing and building their home in Governors Club. The 26-member team includes architects, builders, landscape architects and interior designers. Three of the four professions represented are required by the Property Owners Association's Architectural Review Board for plan submission and approval.
The Custom Home Program has endeavored to assemble a team of experienced and talented members that understand and share the vision of Governors Club as a community of elegance, style, and exceptional quality. As a result, the CHP has members who strive to provide solid customer service and quality craftsmanship for our property owners. The Custom Home Program is proud to offer property owners the opportunity to work with some of the most respected builders and designers in the Triangle.
Members of the CHP are experienced in, and understand the idiosyncrasies of, building and designing in Governors Club. Many of our Members work exclusively in Governors Club and the group has built the vast majority of homes here.
The CHP offers a comprehensive program to our Members. We provide educational meetings; team building events and continuing education credits for designers. Not only do we provide this for our Members to enhance your experience, we monitor our members during construction and survey homeowners after completion. Results are what matter and the CHP has established a twelve-year track record of building dreams. In fact, in 2003, CHP Members received a 90% Satisfaction Rating from property owners surveyed after move in. They have consistently received high marks both as a group and as individual members. Using these survey results, the CHP annually awards exemplary performance by Members for their dedication and hard work.
Located at the Governors Club Realty Sales Center, the Custom Home Member Library contains reference books with specific information on each member-company and a private conference room for members and property owners to meet and discuss ideas, plans, and later, progress.
The process most often begins with a request by the property owner for an orientation session with the Program's Director to discuss the building process and then suggestions are made as to the CHP professionals that would seem to be the best "fit". The Director then coordinates an interview meeting with the member(s) selected. These interviews usually lead to visits to current and past projects by the team members.
Constructing a new home is an opportunity of a lifetime and an exciting & rewarding experience. It is our goal to support you and your design-build team to ensure your building success and long term happiness at Governors Club.
Overseeing the program is April Comstock, our CHP Director. April is an integral member of the team and is available to help Governors Club property owners as they begin the selection process of their design-build team.
